Sunday night, February 10, 2013, Gozzoli and Daniute, won the WDSF PD World DanceSport Standard Championship in Bassano del Grappa, Italy. A new title was added for this great couple.
Winner of six world championships and the most prestigious international awards, Mirko and Edita had interrupted their partnership in March 2012. They started dancing together in 2009 as professional after they splitted from their partners Alessia Betti and Angelo Madonia.
Recently, Mirko and Edita started dancing in shows, and nothing suggested they will come on the dance floor of the WDSF competitions. Tonight, un coup de théâtre, they won the WDSF PD World DanceSport Standard Championship, reprezenting Lithuania, the native country of Edita.
There was the seventh world title for Mirko and the third for Edita (the first two were won with Arunas Bizokas as amateur).
Difficult to describe the enthusiasm of their fans, who watched the live streaming late night, and expressed their joy commenting on facebook.
“Today it has proved that a natural spin helps to win. Sometimes the basic is better than running and running.”
